Here we are with only 2 days left in the year, and once again I just have to shake my head and wonder why it is that the year must rush by so fast as we age. It doesn't even bother to knock on the door anymore and ask to enter..... it just barges right into our lives after taking one more Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary with it as it rushes immediately out the back door, slamming it behind as it goes. Talk about feeling as though you've been rode hard and put away.... well, you know the saying now don't you?
The only thing the annual year-robber leaves behind is another wrinkle or two around the eyes, a hitch in your get along, or perhaps in my case just a bum shoulder to moan and groan about on this blog. If he didn't move so fast I swear I'd grab his coat tails as he whizzes past and throw his ass to the ground, stomp on him and lock him away in the scary room of our basement, because he is one scary dude.
Our grown children are now of the age that I would so love to have back. They represent where I once was in life. Our daughters' beauty and brilliance absolutely blinds me each and every time I see them and there is no amount of facial make-up I can slather on to regain that beauty which I feel the dastardly year-robber has stolen from me.
YES.... another year. It leaves with a Whhhhoooosh.
What he leaves behind though is a basket of trade offs.
One Less Year Of Mortgage Payments
A Bit Of Patience
Giggling Grandchildren
Lessons Learned
Deeper Love Of Family and Friends
Memories
Since it's a non-negotiable deal, I think I'll take the trade-off.

I hear ya Di. I never used to notice much but now the years are just flying by and so is my age. Chances are your daughter doesn't see in herself what you do, which is sad. Most younger woman dont.
So onward we go, thankful for another year to live our lives and make a few more memories. It's so much better than the alternative. And lets face it Di, we are lucky ladies to grow older in comfort and love.

Kurt and I were just talking about this, how time is flying. It's going faster and faster. I get up from this computer to walk out into the kitchen to get some coffee and somehow fifteen minutes passed! I read something somewhere a long time ago about why this happens as we age. It is driving me crazy because I can't remember exactly what it said but it has something to do with the pecentage of our life that's left. Little kids think days last forever. It FEELS long to them because they have, say, 90% of their lives left to live. The older you get, the less life left and something about the ratios... oh man, I wish I could remember! Anyway, I hear you.
I hear ya Di! Hope that bum shoulder of yours gets better soon.
