As depicted by my header photo today, it's a dreary day.... it was a dreary day yesterday too. Saying goodbye to 2009 was not a difficult thing, nor a moment of WOO HOO... it's a grand new year. In fact after popping in a DVD, then watching a bit of football and HGTV, we enjoyed our tray of snackage, one glass of champagne, and by 11:15 we headed off to bed. No Woo Hoos for us.
We were awakened at midnight by the sound of our neighbors ringing the very large bell in their yard and firing off of their guns into the air (such a stupid, stupid celebratory action) which upset our dogs and brought them whining outside our bedroom door. Missy never sleeps in our bedroom, but last night she spent her snoozing time on the floor at my side of the bed. She was soooo frightened by the neighbor's noise.
Hubby and I were both awakened later by another of my famous nightmares which occur only when I have eaten before bedtime. If there's one thing I've learned this past year it's to not eat anything prior to heading off to bed. I'm 55 years old, and yet these awful nightmares bring me to yell out loud for my father. AND, they wake both of us generally sending Hubby to the couch for some heavy snoozing time. NO MORE FOOD AT BEDTIME!!! Not. Even. A. Nibble.
The photo is of Dad at age 45 on a trip he and Mom took to Hawaii. He passed at age 70, but he's still my hero in my dreams rescuing me from the monsters within my own head. He generally rests in peace but like the loving father that he was always comes to call when my late night eating habits beckon a visit from him. Sorry to bother you, Dad. I promise to be a better daughter in 2010 and learn better eating habits..... My one and only resolution.
Welcome to my nightmares New Year.

It is interesting what comes to us in our dreams isn't it... Memories of things and people that meant a lot to us often surface in dreams and maybe even more so around this time of year too. Your Dad looks so happy in this lovely pic.
Happy New Year Di :-)
Oh Di! I hate that! I have a couple of children that have those. I was even awakened a couple of years ago by youngest daughter, Dawn, at 3 in the morning!
Never has she done that..but I know what she dreamed and I understand.
With me, I need a bit to eat before bed to sleep well. You..the opposite! :)
No more before bed snacks. Send
'em to me and we will both sleep soundly! :)
Patrick died at 63 and Dawn suffered something terrible. They were very close. Dad's NEVER mind rushing to their daughters side.
Hugs! :)
