Walking the walk and talking the talk.
If you followed along here the past couple of weeks you will remember *or perhaps not*, that I had my annual physical and from the blood results made the decision, along with my doctor's prompting, to eat differently.
Turkey sausage burgers made right here at home have been high on my list of snackaroonies.
I keep a plate of them in the fridge and will be making another batch of them today since they are GONE!
Hubby decided that salmon patties would also be a good thing, and he totally enjoys salmon
So, salmon was on Saturday's grocery list and we found a great recipe for the patties HERE.
Of course we fudged a bit since we didn't have fresh parsley and used dry, and we didn't have dry mustard so we used wet.
Creamed peas over salmon patties was a meal my mother made when I was growing up, and to be honest with you, as a child I could not eat peas. They would literally gag me.
But I've grown into a VERY sophisticated pea loving adult over the years and veggies are now a food group completely and utterly appreciated in this house.
Hubby still turns his nose up at peas, so he had a different veggie with his salmon patties... on the side and not on top.
I am recommending this salmon pattie recipe from Allrecipes.com.
We used fresh Atlantic salmon since we don't eat the farm grown salmon.
Totally delicious!

I love salmon cakes, or at least I did as a child. I haven't had one in a really long time. And I love peas, always have, but my sister used to pick them out of everything and it drove my mother crazy...hehe!
Promise me you'll get your dizzy thing checked out!
Kat :)
This dish looks good Di. I wasn't a fan of peas growing up, but I do like them now...and salmon is my favorite fish to eat.
I love salmon so I am definitely trying those. I am so happy you now eat your peas, Sis.
good for you eating healthier...that looks yummy...my dad always told me my tastes would change as i got older...he was right!
I'm starving now!
I totally should have read this post after lunch. Not two hours before! I'll know better next time. That's for sure!

I love salmon=fresh, frozen, even canned. When I go to the Oregon coast, I try to make it during salmon season, so I can go fishing.
My Mom used to make something called "salmon pea wiggle" that was very similar and I still do love my peas and salmon! I must tell you, your current header is probably my very favorite one of yours so far. I just love it! ~Lili
i am also a fan of salmon...yummy! And I also enjoy peas, another yummy here! Blessings Jane
Seems like some delicious and healthy choices!
I love salmon . . . grilled . . . with some fresh seasoning. I am with hubby, no peas for me. One of those little green things never finds it way into my mouth . . . sorry . . ., ugh!
Good for you for following doctors suggestion for your new eating/food plan . . . I like the photo of you in your header.
I love all veggies except lima beans and any form of okra .. I love all sorts of fish but I dont care for salmon when its hot .. its got a smell I cant get past AND its way too rich/fatty for me ... cold salmon is totally yum
Salmon is on my list this week too! mmmm.
Looks delicious, Di! That's it! The next time the Prez makes our fish, I'll post about it! ...:)JP
G-Mom-B was from Boston, I'll never understand why I didn't grow up eating fish! My salmon comes in a little bitty pouch from Chicken of the Sea... But I do fry up some cakes in olive oil every once in a while. Now peas, well, I'm all over them:@)
salmon patties sound good but I'm with your husband, I'll have a different kind of veggie please :)
I can still remember my parents making me sit at the table until I ate all my peas..it's the only thing I remember them forcing me to eat...yuck! Still not a fan but I do love split pea soup...weird huh? I do like salmon, though!~Patti
I can't even look at cooked peas without gagging. But like Crystal Rose---I like split pea soup. Do you think it is a texture thing?? Hmmm....
Thanks for the recipe link! I will give it a try. I love salmon
Hugs
SueAnn
