The Books Are Here!

Alright.  I had purchased one of these cookbooks last week and the recipes looked to be just what I was wanting in my fight against getting my cholesterol down.

The other two I found on Amazon along with the Cholesterol Down book which came highly recommended by my daughter, who's husband is also fighting the cholesterol battle, and brought his numbers down by 40 points in a month.

I began perusing this one tonite and noticed a very familiar looking recipe for the turkey sausage burgers that I make that were brought to my attention originally by another blogger... Jayme.

Another blogger commented to me that her husband won't eat the turkey burgers because they are dry, so I saw this recipe in the book for savory apple-chicken sausage.  I didn't have ground chicken on hand, so I substituted the ground turkey that I DID have.

The apple added the perfect amount of moisture and really livened up the turkey burgers.  I also always add a bit of Hot Shot pepper and sometimes a bit of garlic powder.  These hit the spot for me and I'm recommending them to those of you who just want to keep a plate of them in your fridge to grab rather than a donut.

Here are the nutrition stats... although as I said, I used turkey rather than chicken.

Here's a photo of my finished cooked patties and they were pretty good if I don't say so myself. I popped one in my mouth before they  even cooled down!
See the pieces of apple?
YUMMMO.

I'll continue to browse these cookbooks and share the best of the recipes with you throughout my cholesterol down journey.

OR, go buy these cookbooks... they can be found on Amazon for $10-$12 each and they have great photos of the finished product in the book too.

I like Taste of Home recipes. We eat various forms of turkey all the time. My lipid panel is normal but Joe's is not. Portion control is a huge problem for sweet Joe.

They look so yummy!

I think using turkey and chicken instead of beef is initially an adjustment, but once you get used to it, you realize how greasy and heavy beef is.

I can't wait to hear about some of your new finds in those books!

Thank you! I will have to give the apple a try. I mentioned you said try celery but that seem to not go over big. When I served him the last of the dry sausage the other AM he said "is this the last?". I will give him some time and let him eat those Jimmy Dean turkey sausage breakfast muffins for a bit. They are only 280 cals. But then I am trying the apple.

OH, Taste of Home use to have a monthly mag subscription,I have many copies. Will have to dig them back out. Will look into the books you posted too.
