Dear Google

 Dear Google,
Please do not shut down my blog like you did to my sister today simply because she would not give you her cell phone number.
Some things in life should remain private whether you agree with me or not.

I don't have a cell phone, so shutting me down for not providing you with my cell phone number would be rather silly, now wouldn't it.

I know you think that everyone has cell phones these days,
but that's simply not the case for this household.

We live in the dark ages and prefer it that way.

Now play nice and re-instate her blog and G-mail account if you
would please.

Jeez.

For those of you attempting to reach my sister's blog today...
Google has blocked her from it so no telling when or if she will be back on her blog.

Google has asked for my cell number, but I just skip it. Thankfully, I haven't been blocked--YET!

I wish they would leave things alone. It is more confusing every day lately . Valerie

Seriously? Did it happen when filling out the form asking for cell phone#?
I have never given mine. How did this all take place, I am curious!
Google is getting a little too big for their britches!

They deleted my blog about a week ago too. They gave me the choice of receiving a text or a cell phone call.

I'm so addicted to my blog I gave them my cell number.

I had an animated call in a matter of seconds which just simply gave me the verification code that I then had to enter into the box on the message they gave me when they deleted my blog.

The moment I entered it, my blog was back.

I think this all has to do in some stinky way with the new blogger interface. I have refused to switch over to the new interface - - - and won't switch over until they tear the old one down.

Meanwhile, I've been BEGGING them to NOT tear the old interface down.

I guess your sister could make a new blog using a different blogging interface like wordpress or something - - - but it would be pretty sad to lose all her old blogger archives.

Oh, if it makes your sis feel any better about giving out her cell #, I have not had any other calls from them.

But then again - - - I hardly ever turn my cell on, so they CAN'T bug me.

I get that message asking for it too, don't have a cell and wouldn't want to give it out if I did! I prefer the computer so I'm not bothered by the phone, things are getting too out of control.

WHAT? Oh for crying out loud! Not everyone has a cell phone. I do have one but I have no cell signal at the house so I don't even give it out.

I hope Google will fix that for your sister. I enjoy her photography and her animals!

I really dislike that (unnamed) company. I know someone who's blog, email account and wife's email account were shut down because they set up a facebook page that said how they hated G----. The wife used hers for business. Very scary. My phone is g----They shut down my advertising just a few dollars before it reached $100.00 which happen to be the minimum amount they will pay.

That's just crazy and I know crazy...I guess they had too much time on their hands. If it makes your sister feel any better, tell her that Facebook cut off our Scottie, Todd's Facebook page because I sent a couple someone reported him as not 'real' --Tell the cat and me that he's not real...

I broke down and gave them our other family cell phone number and they restored it immediately. Interesting to see that it's happened to others. Not fun, not fun AT ALL!!

no way!!! that's crazy. I've always ignored the request for my phone number. There is no reason for them to have my cell phone or my home phone number

Oh crap - that´s no fun! I hope it got worked out real soon!

(I have to say that I LOVE the phone in the first pic, just beautiful!)

I'm on my way to do my much-needed periodic blog back-up ... so I have my content just in case there's a problem with not handing over my cell phone number. I only give that number to select HUMANS, and I never give it out online.

Not gonna happen, Google.

I don't have a cell phone either. Only a basic Tracfone which I rarely use, so I've accumulated a lot of minutes. I don't even know its number.

Uh oh. I've heard from two other bloggers that the same thing happened to them! I have a feeling, they are working their way down the line. I've heard that you have to set up another email account to satisfy them if you don't have a cell phone.

Wow. They are really pushing the privacy thing, aren't they? I'll be damned if we have to give them all of our information. What's next? Our bank account numbers???

CRAZY!

That is just ridiculous! They've been asking me and I've been skipping it...finally, they wouldn't let me into my account until I gave them a number...I didn't give my real number, but I gave my Text Now iPod app number. Google sent me my text on my ipod and my account was opened up again.
