Yesterday morning Rowdy and Izzy were out the front door in a flash.
See?
There they go on the other side of that cherry tree.
Right next to Hubby.
There they go on the other side of that cherry tree.
Right next to Hubby.
They paid no attention to the fact that it was a cool morning after the previous night's rain which made life a wee bit more comfortable around these here parts.
*that's how country mountain folks talk*
Izzy treed the squirrel that had been snooping around in our mulch next to the porch, and I mean... who wants a squirrel snooping around?
They also rousted out two small striped ground squirrels. Well, Rowdy did... and Izzy just followed him around going, "wha?"
This entire 'rousting the gophers out' requires that every bush be sniffed.
and tasted.....
Rousting in the bushes does a great job of slicking your morning bedhead hair/fur into place.
Gopher for breakfast and a new salon 'do' all wrapped into one.
On another note,
I put together this video that I took of Rowdy yesterday morning as he worked hard to roust the gophers.
They had already disappeared, but he worked hard at shaking the bushes because his nose told him they had been there.
A high school classmate contacted me last night about our 40th reunion this summer and I was saddened to hear that she had lost her husband of many years to cancer three years ago.
It shook me for some reason.
The song I used in this video is a tribute to all who have lost a spouse and experienced the pain of standing at their graveside to say goodbye.
This song has many different interpretations.
Some of them can be found if you view the song's video on YouTube and read the comments below it.
A sad, somewhat haunting, and beautiful song by
Jonathan Coulton.
Love the one you're with and tell them daily
that they are the one.
They are the one.

Nancy's A Rural Journal today.
Go pay everyone there a visit today.

Beautiful post. Your dogs bring a smile every time you post their adventures!
Look at them go!
What joy a dog brings people.
How sad to hear about someone's loss like that.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful song!
I love seeing his head poke out from a bush.
I don't know which classmate lost their husband, but it always brings such sadness. I'm sorry to hear of her loss.
Such cuties . . . bring them over, they would love all our grifters!
If they roust moles I need them. I just cut grass and the moles have destroyed my front yard.
Can I borrow them for a day? Mele just barks...from a distance!! The little chicken!
Those two are always so much fun to watch.
I've never been one for high school reunions... will you go to yours? Or is it too far away?
That song is just beautiful as are your words of advise.
Love seeing your pups so happy and doing what they do.
Our Cocoa will tree a squirrel and sit there for hours sometimes....if she only knew the squirrel left via another tree hours ago.
That is so sad to hear and unfortunately the older we get the more we will hear these kind of things. Not only spouses should be held dear but friends and family... I had a friend from childhood come to Ohio from Florida in the past couple of weeks and she was going to surprise me with a visit but her boyfriend called me and told me she had suffered a stroke the night before she was to come. She is going to be okay but instead I traveled into the city where she is at the hospital and was relieved to find out she was better than first thought. We had such a special visit...one I won't forget! Rowdy is quite the scout, isn't he? ~Patti
Gorgeous shots of your dogs!
