The morning sun streams in through our front door which is left open on a nearly constant basis for these two to enjoy the goings on of birds, dogs, deer, people and basically to watch anything that moves in the outside world.
But sometimes guard duty wears a pup out and those eyes no longer stay open,
and one must drop their head just a wee bit and let the eyelids slip into a state of total relaxation.
Yard watching and the vigilance required in watching your own domain is so darned exhausting as we all know
and
that morning sun is just good enough to nap in.
Using your best buddy as a pillow works well on these occasions.

I leave our front door open in winter like that--the sun is just at the right angle for good sunbathing. 'Cept my two don't share....they have to fight over the sun spot and then I get mad and shut the door. Party's over. Sigh.
I love dogs. They're great napping buddies.

Aw, they are so sweet and they obviously love each other. What a nice safe spot for watching the great outdoors.
My cats watch from the living room window and they love to see the cars go by and people walking their dogs. Sometimes they fall asleep in that very sunny spot. So cute!
I am so jealous of them...I would love to sit in the sun all day long!

Mostly the are exhausted from keeping the wild beasts and home invasion robbers from your door. That is very stressful and difficult work and they are doing a GREAT job.
Give them some treats for a job well done...when they wake up.

They really are totally adorable! Mine lately have taken to sleeping together behind the wood cook stove...sucking up that heat! What would we do without them???!
Those two have the right idea. #1 - naps, #2 - napping with someone, #3 - using one's mate as a pillow.
