I thought I'd share with you how I made my current header with the little houses.
Sunday was a delightful day and I spent a few hours with ladies, who like me, enjoy a good shopping trip to what I think of as a 'fun find' store. We drove to the town of Vinton, VA, not far from us and snooped around two full floors in a store called Old Mill Primitives.
Through the front door and just to the left I came across these small ceramic houses/buildings and although I waited until I had been through the entire store, I returned and purchased four of them. Wouldn't they be perfect on a window sill, if I had window sills? None to be found in our house, so they sit all pretty in a row on the front entryway cabinet.
I decided they would be fab on my blog header so I took a few photos of them, cropped them here and there and then uploaded onto iPiccy.com. There they have a 'painter' option and I painted out the background and then saved the photos, some as individual houses.
Next, I dragged them into my iWeb program, using a white background and placed the houses side by side, added a few trees, dogs, bushes, some sidewalk, etc. then took a screen shot of it.
Next I added the lettering I wanted, which I also did in iWeb, but that too can be added in a program such as iPiccy or PicMonkey and then once again saved to your computer.
Such a sweet house!
Do you see it in the header?
It's the two houses on the far left... one photo I flipped and I sat them side by side on the header.
The only thing left to do was to size it for my header and upload it onto my blog.
Amazing what we can do with the purchase of four teeny houses.
Total cost, $10.00 plus time spent indoors on a cold winter day.
Oh, and you'll be seeing more of these houses in upcoming headers!
Ciao.

What a neat idea they look great ! Have a wonderful day
You lost me with all the editing and cropping, painting and arranging!...LOL! Wishing I had the talent and patience...:)JP
The houses are not for me, but if I had been there that wooden bowl would have had to come home with me if it were available.
Makes a really cute header though.
Wow, I am so impressed with all you gals that know how to do such neat things... I am just now finding Picmonkey and making multi-picture headers (do you call that a mosiac?) You did a great job.
Cute little houses and very creative header!
I love your explanation of fixing a new header. I want to do that someday. Not today, but soon... Maybe you could give a class???
Creative and beyond me . . . put me over the cliff . . .

You always make such cute headers!
I love the houses and what fun taking the pictures and turning them into a header. I do love the look of it. I also love the sound of Old world primitives. that would be my kind of place
So cute. Valerie
Ermagerd - I love it! You are so incredibly creative - and you are telling me you got all four of those houses for $10 - did I miss something? I love them!
These are sooo cute. I have a few photo's of favorite cottages...can you make a header out of those if I send you my fav's??
Those cottages are so cute, I have never seen anything like them. They are like the tenant cottages on the big landlord estates in England. I have only seen them in pictures and the movies, but as soon as I saw them,I felt thats what they were...Or perhaps they were first homes for people migrating to the U.S. in its earlier days? They definitely have an English theme.
Happy new Year.
Truly charming!
My problem is, I never know how to size it correctly! I've got some prospective photos but have to get them sized properly...:)JP
