I'm Snappy Finger and the keeper of this mighty blog, but you can call me Di.
Originally I hail from the state of Iowa, a small farming community in Kossuth County which is in the north central part of the state, the third of four children born to a stay-at-home mom and a dad that owned and operated a feed grinding mill and animal health supply store. You could say that my childhood was somewhat ideal in that we were considered upper middle class in our town and as children we did not go without.
Life in the midwest was followed by decades of life in Arizona and we are now living in the fabulous Blue Ridge Mountains of Botetourt County in Roanoke, Virginia, amidst countless squirrels, groundhogs and frolicking deer.

I'm now a stay-at home, empty nester and grandmother of six, happily committed to my husband and my family and still in the honeymoon stage (4th year) of my second marriage to my brilliant beloved husband whom I met on an internet dating site 14 years ago; an electronics engineer who's career has taken us from Arizona to Maryland and back again and now finds us living in the countryside of Virginia. I used to love the city but at the age of fifty-something I am discovering a preference for a simpler life, a smog free life with acres of elbow room where you don't hear the neighbors snoring at night or the constant whooshing sound and daily battling of traffic as we did when we lived in the Phoenix area.
Although I have never really fallen in love with cooking or baking and reside in the 'average' category when it comes to culinary skills, I find that I have no ambitions of getting any better at it so I will share few recipes on these pages. I will however be sharing many photos (since I think I want to be a photographer when I grow up), a bit of humor and also infinite amounts of wisdom that come with being a lady of the Boomer age.
I started this blog in 2008 hoping to get rich off of large companies wishing to advertise here. Now that it's pretty obvious that's not going to happen instead I just show you photos of the junk around my house and of the area where I live, which is gorgeous by the way. I adore photography, flea markets, farmer's markets, junk shops, chai latte coffee, and breezes flowing through an open window on a cool, October day. OH, and I slurp when I drink my coffee AND also I design free headers for nice people.
P.S. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "oh crap, she's up"!
